I got to working on the replacement hood last night and totally forgot about a pic of the sticker I'll get that tonight.

but here's a pic of my 91 in action if it helps lol. The one coming up the hill was right after I folded both trailing arms and had to be winched to the top for a field repair.

sounds like it is time for synthetic oil and a little heat shielding...

A lot of the guys on the saab board have found synthetic oil and 3k changes help considerably.

My 3.5l 1987, (assuming it hadn't been changed to something else) kicked butt running 87 octane. I would routinely pass 3.9's, until the timing chain got too much slack at 180k. 8:13:1 and 7400' elevation lessen the octane requirements however.

Nice pics ArmyRover. I went to a different section of the manual and it states again Premium 90/92 AKI - 95/96 RON.

i have been running 93 since the day she was born. i am the second owner.. but the previous owner was a millionaire(literally, inherited some $$$) and he always used the best gas ect.. 52k miles and i can swear i have less problems than anyone else with my mileage.. though 52k isnt a high number. im sure even at 75k she will be running just dandy.

RRC 1987-1988 took only 87 regular. After 1990 they all are 90-92 Premium. That goes for all Disco's too. (94-2004)

I'm getting 15-16.5 Highway 11 to 12 city. NYC gas is expensive.

Thank the taxes in your state for that. I think NY just beat out California (my state) with the highest taxes. I think y'all are at 63 cents per gallon and were at 60. I did just under 100 on my truck the other day with the cheap stuff.

Yeap!! We are paying about $4.00 a gallon for Premium and over already. I'm not going to get frustrated about it, I'm just going to accept it. When I visit my girlfriends family in Sweden I pay $6.00 a gallon for premium (95) now it must be more.

You need to acknowledge that Landrover made high and low compression motors up to at least the end of the Discovery 2. The only way to know what fuel to use is to look at the motor and see whether you have a high or low compression. The higher the compression the higher the octane required.

from RangeRovers.net:

8.1:1 (to 1988), 8.13:1 (1989-92), 9.35:1 (93-95), 8.95:1 LWB

My motor is a 1994 4.2ltr-8.95:1 comp. I don't think that 8.95:1 compression requires premium...now a 3.9ltr specs out at 9.35:1...more than likely it could use a higher octane gas.

mines a 91 and 8.13:1 doesn't qualify as high compression to me so in the 87 oct goes

Honestly none of those motors qualify as high compression to me lol....
