HI everyone!
This is a great site, thanks for having me. I am purchasing a 1991 Land Rover, I have no idea what the difference is between all these names. It does not have the glass top in the back so I am assuming its not a discovery, right? Its alpine white with tan leather. Im a woman thats going to go check it out with my boyfriend that knows nothing about these cars. I know how to check certain things on a car if you could just tell me what to check for. These are my all time fav cars and im so excited but REALLY need advice on what to check for. BTW im paying $2500 and I dont know how many miles it has. PLEASE help! NEED ADVICE. Oh and im also aware theyre pricey to fix, its not a problem. ![]() ALso if you wanna be super cool you can e-mail your advide to beautynsb@yahoo.com My name is Michelle, thanks a million. |

Wow! Where to start.
Discovery didn't come to the US untill 94. Your 91 is a Range Rover. Often called a Range Rover Classic. 91 is a good year, actually.

What's up with that? Not a problem to fix? You are probably the only woman ever to speak those words in regards to a Land Rover. I have a site www.okierover.com that I talk about Classics. Mostly how to's on repairs I've done. But RangeRovers.net is the definitive site. Welcome to the magical and mysterious world of Land Rovers. |

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the help. Especially the link from armyrover, thanks. That was a great site. I am going to purchase the vehicle Monday. Its so funny though, no matter what car I get even if its brand new the drivers side window always seems to go out and here I am again and the car im getting the window motor is out. Actually the guy said it goes up and down when it wants to, but i dont think i will mess with it in case it gets stuck down. Heres another question, the very back window above the tail gate will not stay up,its broken on one side, where can i get that part? I can fix it myself if I can find out where to get it at. I REALLY want to stay away from the Land Rover dealership, I like to get things done myself. I dont know what the part is called but I will just use womans terms, it looks like a simple bicycle pump that holds the window up. ha ha hope yall know what that means. I will send a picture on Monday, I cant wait!!! Talk to yall soon ![]() |

rear window strut is what I've always called it.
pull the metal clips off each end piece, remove and match it to one at the parts store. Match both end types and length fully extended (like it will be in box) and the length of the body (the part the shiny metal piston goes in to. I've never found an exact match, the ones at the auto parts stores seem too strong so I just use one instead of two of them. OR... take the easier route and call Roverparts.com, RoversNorth.com, AtlanticBritish.com, BritishPacific.com (in CA), InlandRovers.com, etc. and order the correct part.
