Cool Questions with RR93 LWB, 170K Miles

Got my Range at 165,000, The Transmission Did not Work, so Put another One, Same Code, (1995 LWB), The ABS is ON, already Change the Brake Pads,Cause they Started to Sound At 170,000 Miles, Reset the Battery, Same Thing. ABS is ON.

Car Ran Strong, but My Wife Took the car to wash the engine and Car didn't want to Start, Some one Fix it, they Corrected the Timing thing, cause they move the Distributor Needle to Clean it.

Now the Check Engine is ON, Car Sounds Like the Catalytic is Clogged, But i think the Problem is the Spark Wires, cause the ones on the car are really Rust, I am gonna do the Normal Maintenance and See if that makes the check engine light go Off.

So i Need to know,

For a 170,000 Miles Range:

1.- What is the Correct Motor Oil to Use (10/30- 10/40)?
2.- The guy who installed my Car Stereo, Said the AMP from my Car is Blew. when he conected the stereo, there was a small noise.. i dont know if i can put another amp and use the same wired, or replace it with and original one.

any one has any Tips on Upgrading the Sound System in their RR?

3.-My Right Front Door Doesnt Open From the Inside, you have to Pull the Door and at the 3rd. Try it Opens..

Those are my questions for Now, i know it is an Old Car, very Expensive Parts and it has a lot of electrical problems.. but i really like the Truck, Gives me the Security i need, here in the City with bad Streets.. and Bad ass Dudes.

Catalytic converters do not last forever. I just had mine replaced they were all busted up and rattling around and were causing the engine problems in running. Just replace them. I got an entire cat back exhaust put on my 93 LWB for 450$ just a couple of months ago. It's not a Magnaflow or Borla or anything fancy and it works just fine.

Check the code on the display underneath the passenger seat. That will tell you what is setting off the Check Engine code. The ABS is probably a wheel sensor. When they fail they set off that light.

Oil? Where do you live? Asking what the correct oil to use is like asking if the Mossberg or the Remington shotguns give you the best kill on zombies. I use Castrol 20w50 with a Wix oil filter and change it every 3000 miles. There are a dozen threads on this board discussing oil. Enjoy.

I will be exploring the sound system stuff this summer, so I'm not much help on that right now.

My Left Front Door does that. Sticks that is. I'm going to replace the door latches. They are a common GM part. To get by...try spraying some silicone lubricant in there. I got by several years doing that. Also if you pull in on the door grab and then pull the door release the door might open. That's how I get out of mine.

With respect to the door handle, you need to pull the interior door panel off and adjust the rod that connects the handle to the latch mechanism. Over time, they stretch and do exactly what you describe.
With respect to the stereo - the stock setup is pretty darn good from Harmon Kardon originally. I beleive most people will either replace the entire thing - sub, amps, head unit, etc rather than kludge together a hybrid. I've added only an ipod adaptor to mine and all sounds pretty darn good.
Like Okie said, oil threads abound, but 170k on a motor generally dictates something higher than 10-30, even in Mexico...

How exactly do you "adjust" the rod? I've looked at the setup and didn't see anything that looked even remotely adjustable.

There's a threaded adjustment near the exterior handle...
