Default Quick help on fuel door

Folks, I'm in pickle. I just dropped the 91 RRC at the shop to get inspected. We have emmissions inspection here for $35 they check to see if our $10 gas cap is working. OK so I figured I'd open the door for them. no worky. I tried is engine off, engine on, key off, key on. Now what??

I planned to stop by at lunch(a co-worker will drop me off) to pick up the vehicle. If it doesn't work for the mechanic by then. My understanding is a rod can be accessed though the inside? How, and what tools are needed??? Is this a 5min job. Can the door be forced open? What fuse works the door? I was playing around with the radio wires.

I generally try to figure these thing out myself but I'm pinched at the moment.

thanks,

bob

When mine quit I think I used a pocket knife to move the rod from the outside. The panels aren't all that tight and it moved. But it worked after that so I didn't have to repair it.

I don't know if it works? I didn't ask.

Man, I would not have heard the end of it failed. I already got the talk from my beautiful, loving wife. About how much money/time I have in it already. Although I did not point out that her new freestar was in the shop 3 times for rear brake caliper issues the day after we got it. And the rear hatch handle is broke.

OOHHHH

Never go toe to toe on repair and maintenance with any other vehicle, Unless it's an Jaguar XKE! You won't win.

Buy her something equal to the repair, it's the only way! Unless you can get her hooked on 4 wheel driving.
