radio question
Are the Range Rover Classic (1993-1995) and discovery-1 radios the same ? Everything will work the same ?
I need a new radio and the disco ones are cheaper at the scrap yard ...  Thanks ! |

Um... I know that the disco ones do not work well in the Series.....
 To be perfectly honest, I have not the fainest on this one... did you try posting it in the RRC forum section, or the disco setion.. a lot of times this part of the forum is over looked for technical questions...

Their OEM radios just suck except when you are in the city. I used to love their Supertuner products but when they put flashy displays connected with flex cable, well something is going to get old and break. Ditto with Sony. I know that the '96 Disco radios that I have seen are exactly like the ones I've seen on '95 Range Rovers Classic. Off the top of my head I can't recall if they are the same as '93 and "94 Range Rovers. I know that the wiring to the rest of the system is a bit different with the '95's because Rover was using Harmon Kardon equipment and different CD changers in '95. The earlier changers were Pioneers and the later ones were Alpine.

I used a D1 (Pioneer) radio in my RRC...it's exactly the same thing. As far as I know, the earlier versions used on the RRC through 1994 are actually badged "Range Rover" on the cassette door. For 1995, and for the D1, there's a green Land Rover logo on the cassette door. But they're all the same radio.
Replacing the factory connectors that had been cut off was fun
