Default random questions 89 RRC

Hello more of the same questions you all have to deal with 10 times a week...

1) How do I get the headlight washers to operate? I read the manual 100 times...

2) what does the blue relay on the firewall (passenger side) do? (see photo)

3) what brands of tune up parts are the best for my rover (I KNOW the ignition wires stink!)

4) on an average driving day where does your temp gauge normally sit at?

More questions coming, Thanks for all your help,
Harry

1) They are supposed to wash the head lamps every so often when you use the windshield washer IIRC.

2) Not sure looks like it was added in

3) Lucas cap/rotor accept no substitues. Plugs pick your favorite I like champion 322's, wires everyone seems to like magnacore, I run accel 8.8mm wires that I custom cut for her.

4) Just a touch below dead center

there is a headlight timer fitted to the firewall behind the washer bottle. the one on my 93 came off the retaining clip, dangled upside down and filled with water

did it look like it came from anywhere near the blue one in my picture?

also, do your washer outlets have nozzles in them? mine look like there are no provisions for nozzles, just big honkin hoses & outlets!

that timer is just behind the bottle on a 93. let me look at my 89 when i get home. the 93 dosn't have that row of relays there like the 89. it looks like your nozzle tip may be missing by the looks of that pic.

Default biger tires versus 235 70 16

Has anyone tried the tire sized 245 75 16 on a classic Rover with stock springs?

might want to start your own thread on your question instead of hijacking his.

You'll probably get your question answered faster that way.

looking at my 89 the timer is mounted to the far right in the row of relays ( the truck's right) the only real big one. as for the nozzles, my 89's look the same as yours, but my 90&93 look like the one in the pic. I think the tips are missing but i may be wrong. other pic shows the firewall on my 89, see the sideways mounted base with no relay in it? I wonder if thats the one youre talking about. ONLY go with an OEM cap! the others fit like CRAP!!!

On my '91, the headlight washer comes on with the windscreen wash if, and only if, the headlights are on. This is how it is described in my owners manual as well. For the record, this is not a US model, so it might be different.

I'm probably going to put mine on a toggle inside so I can wash them when "I" want to

oh & I need some nozzles!

I found where that blue relay goes behind the panel... aaah now to find out what each one does! muhahahaha!!!

Another wire question, I've heard the Ford 460 is the closest pre cut wire set to the rover v8, is this accurate? will a spiral core set be acceptable? (Bosch, Accel, Mallory)
