Default Range rover classic intercooler?

I know that the rrc 200+300td are able to have intercoolers, but is it at all possible for the 3.9L v8 petrol model to have an intercooler, there isnt room infront of the intercooler because the engine bay doesnt allow it, is it possible to hit the intercooler sumwhere else? or maybe cut the front of the engine bay to fit one in, any suggestions and help are appreciated

cheers

unless you've put a turbo set up on your 3.9 I fail to see the benefit of installing a intercooler on a n/a engine.

it can be done if you have the time money and fab skills.

If your having overheating problems I would address that first as that will kill a rover motor quick.

An intercooler is NOT going to help with coolant system overheating or temperature regulation.
An intercooler (air:air or air:water) is used to cool the INTAKE air charge before it enters the plenum after passing through the turbo. Compressed air, from a turbo, gains heat when it goes through the turbo. A cooler air charge results in more power. You can turbo charge anything without using one, but will get better/more power with one. That said, ensuring the right spark advance and fuel mixture is critical or else you'll blow giant holes in your pistons and heads from detonation. Turbo'ing a Rover V8 would likely require some sort of aftermarket engine control system and an upgrading fuel system for sure.
