Default Reuse CV joints?

So, do you guys think I should replace this CV or simply just relube it?

The break was so catastrophic that it left me with NO steering whatsoever.

Just use some JB WELD to patch the cage. It should hold. Looks like you have some water in your front diff from the color of the oil.
ps: When you're ready for a real Triumph, let me know.

Christ, would you? Man I wouldn't even consider the option, just too much of an important part to be "patching up". My personal choice would be replace. IMHO it just isn't worth the risk of possibly causing an accident on the freeway due to the steering/wheel locking up, or not getting home if out on the trails!

By all means patch it up and keep it as a spare in the back, "get-you-home" just in case spare, but rely on it, hell no!

Ditto.
I actually hoped you were kidding us. That's a major failure.

What are you trying to do, kill the guy? You forgot to tell him to put a wire tie around the CV before installation!

I couldn't find any JB weld so I used duct tape. Crossing my fingers that it'll hold.

Just be sure you don't put so much on that it'll bind the steering. You'll be fine.

Actually, it also looks like your stub axle seal is a goner.

Crap, I gotta go find another place to be a wizass. I absolutely can't believe any of you took me seriously.

I'm wondering if Geo was serious now. Would you keep it as a get home spare, really?

Don't you carry superglue with you. Of course it would make a good spare. You just have to make sure that you use it in the opposite side of the car so that the stress is in the opposite direction.

Its okay Terry. I thought your "could have had a V8" comment on the engine questions thread was pretty funny.

Duct tape and wire ties oughta do the trick ... but only use wire ties from Wal-Mart. Anything else would fail and leave you stranded somewhere.
