Default Rigging the engine for removal

Tired of chasing this knocking ghost in the 4.2L.... Near as I can tell, it most likely has a slipped liner (knocks only when hot), but regardless, if the rover doesn't sell in the next week or two the motor is coming out. My question is, what is the best way to rig this engine to lift it out of the engine bay? There is one nice lifting eye already in place on the driver's side near the p.s. pump.... I read in the manual about a bracket that can go in place of the a.c. comp?? Anyone got a good shadetree mechanic method for getting the old aluminum boat anchor to safely hang somewhat level? Thanks in advance.

64 views and no one else has yanked a motor out of an RRC?? I always seem to struggle with responses on this forum... and was then ridiculed for posting the truck for sale in the classifieds... what gives?

As you have said, there is a lifting eye on the power steering pump bracket on the front of the motor and and eye bolted to the back of the head on the opposite side of the motor. Get a speeder bar around the length between the two eyes and pull the thing out.

Appears to be more a Discovery leaning site. They put all Range Rovers under the one heading, but have different sections for D1, D2, D3, D4, etc.

thanks for the responses guys. This motor doesn't seem to have a lifting eye on the back of the head on the passenger side.... Unless I am totally blind? Maybe a previous owner unbolted it for some reason? Seems like an odd thing to remove...

It's funny how I've had the truck for sale for months, and no one has taken much interest due to the engine mystery. Now, all of a sudden, since i've decided to just fix the truck and drive it, I've had 3 phone calls in one day.... Maybe it's a sign? LOL
