I have no idea of what brand of rack that is on my rover. It has six mount points on the rain rail and powercoated. It is from the sunroof back. I have a spare, hi lift, shovel, everyday and what ever else I might need for a trip.

In this pic I had a big colemen grill, two tents, 10 gal of gas, 7 gal os water, two coolers, folding table. me at times, and chair. Pluse the everyday stuff listed above.

The two thing that I would change is. I had to remove the bike rack and mounts on the passenger side. I cought the rack on some trees last year on a narrow trail. Mess up the rain gutter. So to solve that I cut that crap off. Gone. Problem solved. The other would to be a full roof size to cary more stuff.

Ok, the roof rack plan has undergone a change. I am now considering a exo cage with intergrated roof rack, why exo? Because Im a tall guy and need all the interior room I can get. Im not a huge fan of the way a exo cage looks but for what I want I may have to learn to live with it. I don't need one that is going to weigh too much or withstand a high speed roll over ( just needs to stand up to a low speed bump or flop, off road trail damage etc ) So here go's again, can anyone offer ideas or point me in the right direction as to a good set-up? Thanks to all for the feedback so far.

Default thanks Campbell!!!

Got a Surco thanks to Campbell. I've mounted my Pelican 1650 with a bunch of stuff without any problems. I can see the weight limitation though. It's perfect for my needs though. Nice thing about it is that there is no wind noise and the sunroof view is not disturbed.

Looks great Abraham!! Do you keep your pelican box up there all the time? Where can I find one that size?

Next time you are in the neighborhood of my farm, lets get together.

Thanks! I only bring up the pelican when I need more room in the cargo area. I bought mine at B & H Photo and video in NYC. They have the best prices on Pelicans.

Let me know when you want to meet up. We really liked the trip down to your area!

I'm not sure if you can still buy this type of rack, but I love mine. It is very strong with plenty of legs for distribution. It came with the vehicle when I bought it, but I would happily pay up to 1,000.00 for it. I actually first owned this vehicle in the mid '90s and found it for sale a few months ago and bought it back. Thank goodness, because I had been hating myself for selling it in the first place.

I opted to go for the yakima mega warrior basket. I chose this mostly because the rover came with yakima bars already attached and I know they make a good product. the basket was $419, it really feels pretty sturdy. I was pleasantly surprised to find they make a bunch of accessories for the basket too - a spare tire holder, a mount for a hi lift jack, and brackets to mount lights.

I have the Yakima with the extra center section. I know it will hold me (210lbs) and the spare no sweat. Getting up there is the problem!

Yakima has all sorts of accessories: I have HiLift mount, axe/shovel mount, spare mount, and a set of extra light mounts.

I want a roof top tent now!

I will say, I have 3 cross bars/gutter stands and would like one more. DON'T put a cross bar underneath the basket without connecting, it rattles like hell. My center one has some crafty stainless hose clamps... they need to be replaced, they still rattle.

Oh, the spare over the sunroof makes for nice shade, actually!

This is the one thing I can't seem to decide on. I was thinking how much I like having my roof open and having the sun shining down on me so I was going to go with a shorter rack, but here with these 90 degree Texas days we've been having lately, your shade comment makes me rethink everything.
Hmmm...

The 75 KG limit is not because the RR can't take more but because of safety reasons.
The weight you put on the roof is a long way above the centre of gravity and affects the car's handling.
