Default Rough idling

my 95 lwb seems to have a rough idling during full stops at drive or even at neutral position. aside from those two instances, it seems to run fine. any ideas on this, could it be the timing?

Not timing.
Is your air idler valve clean?
Most likely just the air idler valve with some soot/muck/stuff on it.

i've checked the idler valve and it was a bit dirty. however, after cleaning it the idling was a bit better but still fluctuating a bit. would distributor cap and rotor have an effect on the idling?

OK, you have a rattle from your engine, and a rough idle. Did you check for a vaccum leak?

I have had the same symptoms on my 95RRC, so I cleaned the IAC as described above, and the truck wont start at all.

?????-

I also blew into the vaccuum hose leading to the vac advance...could that have anything to do with it?

thx.

Doubt it.

USUALLY a rotted vacuum line is the cause.

Why bother cleaning the iac. THey are $30 from the Zone. Get one for a 96 Astro.

Try holding the pedal half way while cranking and see if it starts.

mll
rough idle and ping sounds like vacuum leak or stubborn/leaky disty advance or hose.

Campbell, My man!
Ummmm.
Okay you "blew" into the vacuum line? Like with a compressor?
If that caused one of the hoses to pop off or fail you'll have to find the leak.
Diagnosing the system is fine if you want to. But buying a few yards of vacuum line and replacing all the lines is probably the way to go. At that point you know your lines are good and you can start looking at the components that fail within the system.

As far as "blowing" into the system and that causing something to fail....I guess it's a possibility.
I wonder if you can damage a vacuum advance like that?

I just blew into with my lung power...The really strange thing is, after I cleaned my IAC and then blew thru the vac advance line, the truck turns over, but no ignition all the sudden. Maybe I screwed up the IAC somehow.

I can't imagine that your lung power would do anything that viscious.
Well. Go back to the basics.
Spark?
Fuel?
Coincidence is the mother of Rover troubles.
