Default RRC Air Condition Question...

Fellas,

Here's a good one I'm hoping someone might have an inkling about.

I have a 1988 Classic with A/C that blows way cold and runs just fine. Strange thing is though, that occasionally.. when I start the A/C and the engine idle is low, the engine will die.

I can start the engine again, and give it (the engine) a little gas and then she'll run just fine.

I just don't understand why the A/C would kill the engine though. "???"

This engine dying thing too... only happens when I starts the engine with the A/C on. (ie- "Idling low."

Any idears as to why this happening?

Thanks,

Ken (in Morgan Hill, CA)

when your a/c compressor comes on, it puts a very large load on your engine. if your idle is set too low, it may cause the engine to die.

Yep...sounds like idle is too low...there is a good write-up on how to set it on Rovers North web site under tech articles. You might also want to clean the idle air valve (stepper motor) it may help too.
