Thanks for the advice guys. We might have to wet sand the paint after to rid of imperfections, and I will definitely take your advise Terry. Just gotta find a place to get the 3M stuff. Probably just a regular paint store would have it.

As far as the bumper goes, like I said, our biggest issue is time. I can't have the truck in there for too much longer, and I can't be there as much as I'd like to for various reasons beyond my control.

I guess you're using using single stage urethane, so if you have to wetsand that, for orangepeel or dust, use 1200, then 1500 then compound polish, like 3M Perfect-It.
I think I would have removed the ARB also. You may think that there is so little to paint behind the bumper, but if you have to fudge the gun to get at stuff, and it doesn't come out well, those are the spots that you'll always see first

UGH!!! Wet sanding..LOL...... but it does make for a nice finish!!!! The bumper is not har to remove........ just do a quick mark/paint so you can mount it exactly where it was.. It's only 4 bolts!

It'll serious;y take you 10 min. top to remove the bumper!

It's looking good and I say F*&k the trim, I think some of the earlier camel disco's didn't have any, Plus theirs better things you can be wasting your money on and no trim looks better

You'll have to go to an autobody and paint supply shop for Perfect-It. It's a liquid, and comes in several abrasive grades. If you only have mild orange peel, get the finer grade. It's intended for machine polishing with 3M Pads, so if you're going to try it by hand go to the nest coarser grade.

Block sand to find imperfections in the primer. Particularly where the spot putty was used. While it may look smooth in the primer coat, once the color is on & the solvents have done their magic, you can have some unforseen problems. Don't be afraid to use a guide coat on the primer, a light dusting of black paint to find low spots that require additonal sanding, primer, block sanding.

Ok, time for some more pics. I am soo bloody tired. The truck isnow pretty much ready for paint as far as I know... I just hope to colour comes out properly.
ANyway, the wet sanding has begun...

Driving it out without seeing was scary...
The truck was also washed off the primer dust.

Doing a final inspection. A few little areas were found that needed some more elbow grease.

Ya I know, didn't take off the bumper... Just no time...

As my friend said, it looks like its being gift wrapped...
Anyway, I am going back tonight after work...

If you lived closer, i'd go there and take the bumper off in the middle of the night It probably would have taken less time to take it off then to wrap/tape it

Yeah seriously. Why didnt you just unbolt it? Along with the door handles, windows, rear vinyl pieces. All those items are relatively easy to remove. Might need a glass shop for the windsheild though.

Originally, were just gonna respray it, quick time, no pimer no anything. Then as time went, we got carried away, a little, and then a little more, so we actually did a lot more than was originally in the plan. We fixed all the dents, and this and that, and primed. All that stuff wasn't going to be done.
Now I will be scared to offroad it with the amount of work gone into it.

but if he would have brought it to a shop they would almost never take off the items above (except arb bar)unless u were going to shell out alot of $$$$ for labor/time. he also could have striped the whole rig down and dipped the body and etc. sound like he has a friend that gave him his time and place for a short amount of time. we will all have to wait to see how the finish product will turn out and i think it should be good. keep us posted

So i just received a pic of the roof which has been painted(havent seen it in person), and I am not sure if this is the right paint they have mixed me.

compared to.

It is weird because looking at the CT LR on the site(posted on the first page), some are clearly brigther than the others...
I am going to the shop today...Hopefully my fears are not true...
