Default RRC Front Seat Compatibility throughout the years?

Oddly enough the 95 RRC SWB I just purchased came with seat covers and when I took them off the rears had very nice dark tan seats and the front were very light tan seats in very bad condition.
My question is what years of RRC seats are bolt in replacements for each other and what years can be made to work and what years are completely different? (I searched and could not find a thread on point)

Knowing my luck the 95’s will only be compatible with other 95’s due to the updated interior, and all other years will be swappable.

For those that have swapped seats, were you able to only switch the upholstered seat if your track and electronics were in good condition or is the entire seat a unit?

Thank,

Adam

I am pretty sure that as long as the replacements are power seats, you'll be fine as none of them had side airbags or anything like that. If you wanted to go with manual, I think you'd be ok - others who know more will likely chime in too.

Thanks,

I would think there would be some people out there that have done the swap.

It would be great if I could switch any power seat upholstery in and keep my track and mount and electronics. I'd love to go manual and be rid of those seat controls for good but I think it would be harder to find a set of good condition manual leather seats.

I'm going with a suspension seat set-up in my RRC. Way more comfy (off road, perhaps not a big issue to some but is to me) and significantly lighter as the track I will use will be manual.
But if all you want is smarten up the damaged seats, any upholstery shop should be able to recover them for a reasonable amount of $$$.
If you want a manual seat be aware that the power recline feature is integral to the seat, as is the seat belt (lower mounting point and buckle). I don't know if the "Hunter" spec RRC came with manual seats but it may be a good place to start. Older RRC's sold in the ROW market certainly came with a entirely manual seat configuration but when retrofitting older parts to a newer car you need to consider any legal ramifications, i.e. the seat belts etc.
Could be by 1995 the seat design has been changed significantly from a older version to comply with ever changing safety requirements, happens all the time on vehicles with a long production life. I don't know for sure but it is something to think about before ordering up a set of manual seat runners from England.
At first I looked into the older Range Rover manual seat swap as an option too but as I'm planning on a cage and five point harness in the future suspension seats got the nod instead.
You don't need to be an extreme wheeler to find use for these seats, they have come along way from the dune buggy desert runner days and are now available in very civilized designs.
Anyway that's my 2c, Hope it helps.

I think I answered this question of compatibility on your thread on Dweb. If not in a nutshell, your '95 RRC's front seats attach in the same way as '96-'99 DI's. The front of the seats in a '95 attach in the same manner as all NAS RRC's from 1987-94. However, on those RRC's there are two vertical bolts per side of the track that secure the seat to the base. On your '95 RRC there is only one torx bolt per side that mounts horizontally securing the seat tot he frame.
