Roverville Radio (http://www.roverville.us/) is selling illuminated window switches for Range Rover Classic. $169 gets you 7 switches. 1 for the sunroof, 1 for each rear door, and four for the center console. Installation time is about 30 minutes.
I installed these tonight and took a drive around the neighborhood. Man it was cool to be able to see all the switches. Just like my P38! 1 touch up/down on the driver side still works perfectly. Couldnt get a good picture so i grabbed this from their website.

Thats pretty cool. When I had my 89 unfortunately had bigger fish to fry when it came to projects, never had any time for the fun stuff like those switches. Man I miss that truck though.

i was going to buy some of those a couple of month ago when i saw them on ebay, but then i needed some headlights and some "non-fun parts". dam he rasied his price. he was selling them for 119 for a set of 7 and 79 for a set of 4. i still want a pair but have to wait for some extra $$$$. i wrote to him and he developed at his company and it took alot to get them out. now i need to get AT coolent hoses and still waiting to get some ome shocks from a member. my wife really wants those switch, she hates when she is driving in the dark and hits the wrong switch. also when i wrote to him he has a life warr on the switchs. let us know how they hold up.

will do. took another run this morning and so far no trouble..no smoke coming from them :-). so from a basic wiring quality perspective, at least i can say they didn't sort out the whole wiring harness or something :-)
will warn people if they go awry, and I am keeping my old switches in case i need them for another RRC some day. but honestly, not expecting anything to go wrong bc they are pretty simple devices. heck even Lucas was able to make my original switches last for 15 years. :-)

One more thing I found out... Roverville Radio webpage says there is a lifetime warranty on these switches functioning and illuminating. So thats good news too! Maybe I'll put my old switches out on eBay. :-)
BTW: Day 2 with these things and I'm really pleased with them. Switches in the P38 are lighted so I cant get over why LR didnt do this on later model Classics. Guess there just wasnt money in the budget in those days. They look so damn good, I went out to Atlantic British to see if I could order a new window defeat switch bc mine is faded like all my other switches were. Since I re-veneered my interior, it is all coming together now and looking brand-spanking new. And now I want to fix the dimmer on my dashboard so my other electronics will have stronger lighting. ;-) Not sure about the 119 price as I never saw that, but I think they are a good deal.

before I pay to replace it i was going to pull it out and try cleaning the rheostat with electronical contact cleaner... theory being that a lot of time little electronic parts just get contacts all carbonized (or is it oxidized?)
not sure this is possible as i havent pulled the dimmer yet, but... yes... i'm definitely a cheapass. :-)
