My speakers are working sparsely. One lower drivers door and one rear speaker and the passenger lower goes in and out. The front upper speakers do not work at all nor does teh rear passenger side speaker. I've determined that all the speakers do work just nothing is getting to them. So playing with the plugs on the back of the head unit has resulted in the one speaker that worked partially goin in and out when I wiggle the wires.
So my question is it common for the internal connections of the head unit come apart? For the weird plugs that the speakers have to go bad? Any other ideas? |

Just a thought.
Are you sure your head unit isn't loosing power? Mine was loosing power due to the ignition switch failing. When the radio is going out do the windows work? |

Pop out a working speaker and try it in the place of a failed one.
That will test the wires and connection. I replaced the front speakers in my Classic with some inexpensive speakers from Best Buy. Panasonics I think. They sound a lot better than the stock ones and weren't expensive at all. |

i also have this problem...i got an aftermarket cd player installed and i began to get engine noise and the speakers would cut in and out..i found out its because the way the cd was wired was using both the cd player power and the factory amplifier power...a possibility is that your amp could be going bad...there is so much wiring involved with the stereo i think that the wires get loose. the radio itself could also be going bad giving a bad signal out to the speakers

I replaced both of my door speakers very easy but takes some time.
1. Remove all phillip screws from the door. there are about 6 of them 2. Pop the door cover loose use something to pry them off. 3. you need a star head to remove the screws for the lower speaker there are about 8-12 of these screws. I used a small pair of grip plyers to remove them. and I replaced them back with the same item. 4. any 4ohm speaker will work for a replacement. the upper small speaker is about 2 or 2 1/2 inches. I just used some silicon rubber gasket to repair the speaker. it worked great speaker doesn't pop any more. 5. I used one of the lower speaker screws and then used two plastic zip ties to secure the speaker. worked great. 6 reinstalled the door panel. waited for about a hour and then the system sounded great after I was finished. 7. this system works from the factory amp but will power a 4 ohm speaker. |
