Default Speedometer & Check Engine Light

OK, so my speedometer has been acting little weird. Just purchased 95 RRC few months ago with 165K miles. Everything runs good but the speedometer didnt register a couple of times while on the freeway. Went to zero and then popped back to normal in a matter of a second. Today, was sitting idle in traffic and the speedometer didnt work when I went from zero to about 70 mph. Stayed at zero for about a good mile and then the check engine light came on. Then the speedometer starting working again. Now the check engine light is on and the car feels normal. If there any connection between the two??

Thanks!

If I recall correctly, the VSS supplies info to both the speedo and ECM so if that went bad, it could affect the speedo and trip the CEL....

Default code 68

Thanks, I looked up the code and it read 68, Road Speed Sensor. I'm sure it triggered the Check Engine Light. The speedometer working again, so i will attempt to reset the Check engine light and hopefully it will not appear again, unless the speedo goes out again!!

Thanks!

My speedo did the same thing off and on for several weeks about a year ago- I didn't do anything about it and it 'went away'. =)
