My 1990 RR 3.9 EFI V8 has sprung a leak!
It appears to be eminating from just behind the distributor and is dripping down the side of the engine, making the most hideous stench when hot. I suspect the left gasket has given up the ghost (left hand from sitting inside the vehicle) but it may not have. A bit of white smoke from the exhaust intermittently. Nothing lighting up on the dash. There seems to be NO oil when checking the dipstick, but the wouldn't I get a light? Will put some more in, just to be safe. Want to rebuild anyway. What could be wrong? L Not driving it anywhere until it's fixed...lol |

When did you check the oil, when the engine was hot? Try checking it early in the morning before starting the engine.

Just behind the distributor is two heater supply hoses. Are you sure one of them hasn't failed?
http://www.okierover.com/heatersupplyhoses.htm No oil on the dipstick???? Ummmmm that's not good. Put some in. |

lol, this could be good. I was getting a bit of white smoke yesterday, but I'd just powerhosed the engine and maybe that got in somewhere?!
I'll rip them all off - what happens if they do? All allfcuking everywhere? Lol - it's staying where it is until fixed, so on the numerous occasions I've checked, the oil is not in there at all, just picked some up and will put it in tomorrow. I'm 16...this is crazy, lol |

It is probably the headgasket--check the coolant. Be careful, it may be overpressurized by the engine compression. If it is pressurized, and you hear bubbling sounds (check when the engine is warm) than it is the gasket, at worse you have a cracked block. Blowing white smoke out when the engine is warm means the engine is burning coolant.
However, maybe all you have is a leak. Check those metal pipes which run over the valve cover. Make sure the cap is on tight, and the hoses are on tight.
