You're right onslow it does - my bad.

I don't think i was being harsh in the least, or at least i wasn't trying to be. Everyone needs a shop manual if you're going to attempt to work on your own rig. It a great place to start! Otherwise your learnig curve is very steep

I wish I had a nickle for everytime I felt like a doofus when someone said, "check your (insert "part name you've never heard" of here)" and I wondered where that was and didn't have a clue. If I had a nickle for everytime I could afford those bitchin' offroad updates.

The manuals don't always help me find the item either!!
I try to look at the pics on the online parts stores when I get confoozed and that with a general location helps me a lot.

That happend to me too! What was wrong was that the connectors that link that battery to the car was really corroded. It was totally gross. Cleaned them well... now he starts beautifully!

Wet plugs? Maybe.
Tighten down your tappet covers.
5/16th inch wrench or 12 point socket. (good luck finding that tool)

Nope.
But the good news is I haven't tried the Snapon or that level supplier yet.

If you ever take apart the oil pump on a an older engine you'll need a 12 point 8mm. Found one at Ace Hardware. They have a 12 points from 8mm on up.

yeah my neighbor had the tool and i tightened them yesterday..they were all pretty loose but i still may replace the valve cover gasket, im still getting low oil pressure when im idling..

well i fixed the starter..too much oil leaked on it which caused the problem...i sprayed some de-greaser on it and cleaned it off and it starts great now!

i thought the starter was fine....every once in a while it would take a couple tries to start her up..same symptons, turn ignition key and i would hear one click...so driving home from work i hear a whirring sound coming from my engine so i pulled over and the sound was coming from the starter...i turned off the engine and the noise continued!! i unplugged the negative battery terminal and the whirring sound came to a stop...i plugged the battery back up and everything started fine...when i got home it did the same thing but taking off the negative cable and putting it bak on didnt do the job...when i plugged the cable bak on the battery the noise started up again..i left the battery unplugged for about 2 hours and once i plugged it bak on the whirring noise came on for a couple of seconds and died down..i started her an the engine started fine....

im guessing bad solenoid?...which means...new starter....?
