The other day I was driving to the local CVS. I arrived and didn't put the car in park I just turned it off. When I came back to the rover I started the car and it jumped as if it was manual transmission. I know It's not suppose to do that but I don't know the what to check. Does anyone know what to check or replace?
I would say that you have a short somewhere. Having it in park or neutral completes a circuit that allows the starter motor to get power to the solenoid. So someone has either bypassed the switch or the two wires have shorted together.
