Default Synchromesh

I have read from various sources that using Synchromesh instead of dexlll gets rid of an abrupt or harsh shift. mine jumps into gear a bit and i am thinking about trying it, the gm part number on the synchromesh is also listed on quakerstate and pennzoil and texaco synchromesh. is it all the same stuff? the genuine gm stuff is about 13 bucks a quart. the texaco is about half that i looked at the product data sheet and it all looks comparable. has anyone tried this stuff.

I thought you were the oil expert
The gearboxes only used auto fluid due to a thin gearbox oil not being available at the time. Most light gearbox oils are fine.

ok good to know. no i am far from an expert. the trouble with knowledge is the more you learn, the more you realize how little you know. i guess synchromesh is similar to a gl 80 maybe a light 80.

If you go to the Penrite site you can look up oils for each vehicle. You will see what they recommend for your gearbox and you should be able to source something similar from your local suppliers.
