find the brake setup off of a non abs rover and swap. If memory serves it's a pretty direct swap.

It is a real easy conversion. I used the stuff from a hunter edition. It took about an hour to hour and a half. The hardest part is running the rear lines. It is pretty straight forward. I have a power bleeder for the brakes so bleeding them for me took a few minutes. With out the bleeder it would take just as long to bleed as it did to do the conversion. It stops a lot better then it did with my abs but my booster was bad and I have never been in one that had a working abs system.

i have also been thinking of replacing my braking system with non ABS. actually i'd like to go so far as to replace it with a very common GM-based system so i wont have to worry about parts for it. whats stopping me is i am concerned that if a vehicle left factory with ABS in a model year after ABS became required, then won't you be risking failing safety inspectioin if you remove ABS braking from it?

i think thats pretty much true. maybe then the only other thing to consider is if you get in an accident and you have removed factory installed safety equipment like an ABS system... from an inusrance and liability perspective you could be exposed.

so i think i'll delay doing this to my truck until i upgrade it enough that its really only going to be a trail rig.

Good call, from a legal point of view you can't fart in your vehicle without some kind of liability issue.
