Tires for my 95 classic

Having a hard time finding tires for my rover. Tire size is 205-80-r16. Are there any other compatible sizes with this model? I have a set of 255-65-r16 from my brothers disco, but scared to use them. Will they bother my tranny or are they safe to use. Thanks

Tires won't hurt your transmission, especially since they came off a Disco, which probably has the same transmission as your RRC unless it's a stick.

Thanks a lot. After checking this site I don't think that I will use the tires from disco though. Don't want to have to mess with my steering at all. Thanks for this link. Great info.

Those wider tires from the DII were intended for an 8" wide rim. The RRC is only 7" wide. The largest tires you can get away with and not have to do anything is 245/75/16. I ran that size for years on a normally sprung '91 RRC with absolutely no issues.

Other sizes that will work are 235/70/16,225/75/16, 215/80/16 and 205/85/16.

I have a 95 LWB. I was able to order 205/80/16 Pirelli Scorpions through tirerack.com. a few months ago. I haven't checked the site lately to see if they're still available.

I just got 4 firestone 265/75/16 Destination LT's today. Kinda scary as they are bigger than the tires on my 71chevy c20. I am swapping the air suspension with terrafirma 2" coils and shocks though. I think it gives the Range rover a "better presence"

Greetings All~ I had been lurking at this awesome site for about a year as a guest and finally joined a few days ago when I acquired a 95 RRC County in Beluga Black. I will make sure I post a proper introduction with pickies soon. So my Rangie came with 255/65/16 Goodyear Eagle LS's and drives very well, with no reported issues. Picked it up from San Diego, Ca. and drove it up to Northern California without any issues and at times exceeding 100MPH to get a glimpse at it's potential. Details, pictures and a brief story soon to come.

I was running 285/75/16s for over 2 years, only slight rub when flexed out with a 2" coil lift.
