Default Trans Replacement

OK - so I'm going to be replacing the ZF in my 95 LWB myself. Done it before on many other vehicles and I have the CD/manual for all the RR quirks. Couple things not that clear to me just yet that I wanted to post to the collective wisdom here:
1) My LWB has fully functioning EAS. What's the best way of getting the vehicle to the right height to get the components out from under the car? (yes, jackstands but where, how high and how many? A set for the axles to stop droop and a set for the frame to maintain position?)
2) All the collective hard and soft literature indicates there's quite a tilt needed to the driveline to get the ZF/tcase out. Would it be easier to remove the tcase separately first and then the ZF? Reinstall the reverse then as well?
Thanks

If you can get your hands on a hoist (two post type) then do it, it will save your back/eyes and sanity. There are places here (in Canada) like 'U wrench' that rent out fully equiped (with tranny jacks and all) service bays/paint booths etc. for a very reasonable cost. Maybe I am just spoiled and worked with lifts for too long but unless I had to I would not change out a transmission on the garage floor again, it just sucks....the big one.
If that is not possible then the more jackstands the merryer in my opinion. The higher you can lift the truck the easyer it will be to work on but then it will be a good idea to rent/borrow a good transmission floor jack to get it all lined up correctly.
Hope this helps and good luck, it sounds as though you have been around the block so you should have no problems.
