I want to change my transmission and my differentials oil ... What oils do you guys use ? How much liters for each ? My truck got 60 000 miles and have been sitting for 2 years ... Should I switch to synthetic oil ?
And what about brake fluid .... normal Dot 3 fluid ? Thanks ! |

Personally, if its been sitting for two years i wouldn't put synthetic in it. It will probably leak and may cause other problems. Any good quality gear oil and transmission fluid is fine. If you're just going to drain the tranny then i would do it myself but if your thinking of changing the filter, i would pay someone to do it. Its a real PITA. There are some schools of thought that if your tranny fluid hasn't been changed in really, really, long time you may not want to, as it will loosened things you don't want floating around in there.

You are talking about the transmission filter ?
Anybody knows if there is a Factory Service Manual for the RRC on the net ? Also, my question is more about what oil GRADE (75W80, ...) I must use ... |

Here!! I know you're already registered, but in other words, you're still showing up as "user" instead of a real person.
You can buy a "Rave" CD usually on Ebay - i think i paid all of $5 for one, or if you're nice and cover the postage, i can burn you a copy. This has everything you're looking for. You might try a search of the bulletin board and there may be somewhere you can download one.

Differentials: synthetic 75-90wt hypoid gear oil. Takes approx 1 QT per axle, get three. Filling can be tricky, get a pump that fits onto the top of the bottle, worth every cent.
Swivel joints: Land Rover grease. Some like 90 wt, or heavier. Grease leaks out less. Drain old oil/grease out through plug in bottom of swivel. Run vehicle to heat it up first. Trans: Filter & synthetic ATF per ZF's recommendation: http://www01apps.zf.com/kst464/ZF_In...doID=1&id=1123 Mobil 1 synthetic meets specs, readily available. Dropping pan is involved, exhaust down, disconnect O2 sensor wire (PITA), remove cross member by spreading frame rails with hydraulic jack. Brake fluid: Castrol LMA (low moisture activity) only. Note that bleeding is a very involved procedure (14 bleed screws), details in shop manual. Shop manual is a must, hard copies are available: http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/9291B.cfm or the downloads above.
