Default uneven idle and stalling when cold

I have a 1989 range Rover 3.9L with lots of miles.
I have just put a tune up in new plugs wires and cap and rotor. when the car is cold or has sat for more than an 1 or 2 hours. It idle is very uneven and the car stalls out. But once it is up to temp it runs fine. The tune up has helped. Where do i go now

Is the ignition been timed? After the new rotor and cap? Might wanna check it out to be sure.

Then again, you said after it warms from a cold start, it runs fine, so a bad temp. sensor on the thermostat housing could be throwing of the computer, and making it run rich, also bad Oxygen Sensors. Just not too long ago, I tested my O2 sensors at my college shop, found the sensors, run the motor slightly rich, but not too bad, either way, I have to replace them. See if you can have a shop test those sensors.

I don't think the MAF sensor, or IAC motor have to do with your matter, but about the IAC motor, you can find in this forum how to clean it, I think OkieRover has an article about how to clean it. BTW IAC is Intake Air Control, also a Valve, keeps your idle up in some cases.

Have these things looked into, and hopefully it will solve your problem.

And Welcome to LRO man!

Check that Air Idler Valve first.
It don't cost a thing to clean.
