Red face Vent Flow Question

I have a 1990 RR Classic. The vent control lever that adjusts the air flow from windscreen to feet and back has disconnected somewhere inside "behind the scenes" and is blowing at the windscreen all the time. As I still have full use of my windscreen heater, I'd much rather have the hot air blowing on my toes....

As its going to be getting very cold here very soon in South Dakota, I'd like to know if there is an easy way to get to the "flap" that directs that airflow one way or the other.

I'm not looking for a full fix right now guys... that can come later next spring or summer. All I need to know is if I can easily get to that flap and push it in the "other" direction so that the heater is blowing on my feet at all times.

I've looked at the manuals, and have a bit of an idea of where I'm going with this, but actually trust all of your experience and expertise a lot more than a bunch of drawings from a manual made in 1990.

All other fan controls and temp control settings are perfectly operational.

Thanks!

well the plastic peice behind all the controls removes fairly easily. If you pull all the knobs off there should be two screws holding that peice in place. You might be able to see something back there. Past that it starts to get alittle complicated.

A little complicated is right! I got the flap that directs the air flow going the right way now, and wedged a nail in the hinge to keep it there and that's the way it's going to stay until winter is over and I either take the time to fix it right or stop caring.....

at which point I'll have moved on to another project anyway!

I can see how quickly that task would have turned ugly though.... at least my toes will be warm this winter!

Thx

here's what happens when your blower motors bites the dust or heater core goes...
