I've read over some threads that describe vibrations but many seem to relate to a bump in the road as the initiator.
My vibration seems to only come and go based on speed. There's a distinct vibration I can feel in the steering wheel (and the truck overall) from about 30-35mph. It's there as I accelerate through that range as well as decelerate through it. So the vibration isn't there above or below that range of speed. I have very little auto mechanic experience but hope someone can point me in the right direction of what to look for. thanks |

If there is vibration while you accelerate and it goes away as soon as you take your foot off of the throttle and coast, most likely it is one of your universal joints from either your front or rear driveshafts. This exact thing happeded to me in my 89 classic - at low speeds there would be no vibration, but at higher speeds when I was accelerating or decelerating I would feel it. I asked the mechanic to check the u-joints, he said they looked fine. A few weeks later ont of the universal joints on the front literally broke while I was driving on a paved residential street. I would have someone take a GOOD look at your u-joints!
Also, one thing people sometimes forget is that if you do serious off roading, you need to lubricate your universal joints a few times a year, or really after every off road trip to be safe. So if you have not been doing that, also likely that it is your u-joints.
