Washed the engine and Now the engine is misfiring and noking!!!

Hello folks, I just washed my engine (RR 91- 3.9L).....before I start the engine I took care to dry the distribuator. The engine took several trys to start, when it's start firing up I noticed a NOK coming from the engine, I stop the engine and fire again, Now the engine misfiring in idle and the noking noise is still there. Any help I do appreciated. Thanks. Ricardo.

probably still alittle wet... wait a while with the cap off and try agian.... what codes are you getting? (under passenger seat)

spray the electrical stuff real good with wd-40, then hit it with some compressed air, or a hair dryer or if you feel real lazy, open the hood and let it set in the good ol florida sun for a while...it will help to displace and dry up any remaining water, you may have gotten a bit of carbon tracing inside of the distributer cap, this happens when it gets wet and the spark jumps to the wrong post along the wet surface within the cap, and possibly on the outside, where the plug wires pulg in(on the outside is highly improbable, but could occur), before you run it anymore, pull the cap and dry it out again, then take a pencil eraser and use it to clean/remove the carbon tracks inside of the cap, after all their job is to rub the pencil lead(carbon and clay mixture) off of paper, so rubbin it off of plastic is no biggie...hope this helps/works
