Weird noise from axle - Land Rovers Only

any ideas my rr when wheel is cranked either way it will make a poping/clunk kinda noise cant tell where it is coming from iam thinking it is one of the cv's, one of them has 181k on it but has new wheel bearings, is there anything else i should check? iam now begining to lear the joys of owning a Land rover!!!! kinda reminds me of my old international scout2 i had
