not a good start, what color is the fluid does it smell burned?

The part that confuses me and maybe I miss read this. Are you continuing to drive the Rover with the tranny acting like this? If you are stop, if it's damaged your just making it worse and if it wasn't damaged your doing it in. Get it diagnosed don't put it off.![]() Used transmissions can usually be found for 3-4 bills so don't give up on a good RRC if that's all it is.

Could be a few things...
Did you check the fluid level? Usually no movement is an indication it may be low, and then expands as it heats up, to the point where the filter can gain suction. Could also be a drainback issue, where the fluid drains out of the converter after an extended period of time and it loses charge. See if the fluid level is extremely high on the stick before the next time you start it. Another possibility is that somehow you lost the tube from the bottom of the filter. |
