Default Wierd Range Rover Classic Problem

As my new user post says, I work at Blue Ridge Rover Works. I am working on a 95 Classic, which has particular value, because it is my father-in-law's truck. Now on to the problem:

The truck has been doing wierd things. When the problem first started, it was stalling out hot and did not want to go up hills. We put a new fuel filter and plugs in it, per his request. Nothing changed, and the truck began to have a slight stumble. We then replaced his coil, rotor button, and cap, but forewent the wires because the previous owner did them about 3 years ago and the truck has not been driven that much. Problem persisted and seemed to get worse. New stepper and tps out of his other classic were then installed, and he finally sprung for the plug wires, which helped the problem with the stumbling and going up the hills, however it still continued to stall hot and not want to start back. He purchased a used computer off of ebay at the suggestion of another shop, and that did not help the problem either. Yesterday, i removed his iacv and cleaned it, and replaced his amplifier with another we had on the shelf (no guarantees, but i feel it is good). Now we have a Code 48 (no check engine light in the whole process until now) and the truck is still not fixed. Sorry for the long post. Any suggestions?

Did you do the ignition amplifier relocation? The stock amplifier is too close to the engine and when warm will cause the engine to stumble. The new relo kit moves it to the fenderwell.

I had one on my 88 RR, 91 RR and 95 DI. I think I still have two of them stored away somewhere.

Good luck.

From what you described I would have bet it was a problem with the ignition module. Are you certain that the one you used to replace the original was a good working unit? Do you have another or can you test the module on a different Rover?

As far as the Code 48, that's the stepper motor. Is everything ok with it after removing it and cleaning it? Is the wiring harness ok for the stepper motor?

I have not taken apart the wiring harness for the stepper, so I cannot be positive, but I would think it is ok being that the car spends alot of time under a cover in the garage (however, I will definitely check tomorrow). On the ignition module, it has been relocated to behind the coil (almost behind the side of the radiator). Thanks for the help guys - keep it coming. I would love to get rid of this problem for good.

He can look at all the other stuff you guys bought as a good start on having spares laying around.
