You'e talking about the sensor in the top radiator hose? Has 2 prongs> Thats the AC fan switch. The ECU temp sensor is in the intake manifold and the fuel temp is in the fuel rail.

Found it.

OK now I have no leads. I will measure this sensor today. I was measuring the wrong one.

Could I have screwed things up when I set the base idle the other day?

Both the fuel and coolant are reading 12K looking at the list that's about right. It's like 12deg here.

After it sits it almost wants to catch. I'd swear it would start, but it doesn't. Then I'll get a chug or two every few rotations. I tried a different coil wire. And checked some of the wires doming off the coil.

Did you mess with the timing??
I still think it's the coolant temp sensor.

Now we're getting closer to the problem. What I suspect is happening is that your battery is not providing sufficient current to the starter to fire up the motor, probably because of the very cold temperatures you have. Put a jump start on it and I'm sure it will kick in.

I tried it with the power pack. I think you close. I'm plan on throwing a blanket around the front of the rig and putting some utility lamps under there tomorrow afternoon.

I'm a bit embarrased.

The spark plugs were toast, even though I cleaned and dried them.

thank you all.

All this was just some bad sparkies?
Well that's good news that it wasn't something freakin' weird.

91 hunter. It ran fine this morning. It still has the the poor idle in gear but I believe it's better.
