Default ZF + LT230 Take Down!

88' RRC

So here's what's wrong with it... I hope this might help others for "several" problems with transmission work.

1. The ZF (Tranny) Oil pump shaft seal busted... So all the oil dumps into the bell housing as soon as temp gets too hot. $16 seal, but you got to take the whole tranny down.

2. Both output seals on the LT230 (Transfer Case) were leaking.

3. The LT230 was not shifting anymore - Meaning the engagement ring was not switching from High to Low, or even worst jumping in neutral in the middle of a highway drive!

4. Front right caliper pistons busted.

ps: Also broke the kickdown cable input on the AT when pulling out from the car... I had detached it but it got stuck on something while pulling it out. (I will post another thread to see if anyone has one laying around for cheap)

I'm attaching pictures but it's not a step by step, feel free to message me if you need any info on procedures or do or don't...!

I still have to open the LT230 and find out what's wrong with the fork and also open the AT to replace the kickdown cable, i'll keep you guys updated.

Keep organized!

Broken Kickdown cable...

Caliper work, just waiting on the new pistons to get here

I had the engine on a jack until the AT was off, then took the jack off and the engine balanced itself

Cheers and feel free to PM me for more info!
