1997 Disco XD Oil Leak
I recently purchased a 1997 Discovery XD in excellent condition. (I think) The engine has been overhauled and since then several thousands of dollars spent keeping it up. I noticed in the repair tickets the rear main had been replaced about 3,000 miles ago (12 months ago on the ticket). I drove it 400 miles when I purchased it returning to my residence. Now that I have driven a few weeks I notice the transfer case and rear main are leaking. The power steering and the oil cooling hoses are leaking.
Since I am new to Land Rover I need to know is the leaking normal? I took it to a mechanic friend of mine to look at the rear main leak. He said all Land Rovers leak and suggested trying a different motor oil and some stop leak additive. Does anyone have this same problem or have I purchased a money pit?
