Default 1998 Discovery, rare find :)

Just bought a new works Disco, not come across one like this before, its a 1998 factory build with no SRS air bags. Has anybody come across one before or is it just me lol. Just started the mods today, fitted a 16" thermo controlled fan (what a difference that makes to the take off power) and the bumpers are getting pulled off next week for a full winch bull bar kit and rock slider sets mounting. Will get some pics of the truck later on to show a step by step of the build. Its going to be our demo vehicle so I guess I better go the full hog on this one

I'm looking forward to the step-by-step, Craig. Please tell me more about the fan you fitted and what it is doing for you. Pics of that too would be great.

Default Soon as I figure

Here are a few of the truck, interior shows no SRS plus a couple of the thermo fan control unit & fitting. The fan is mounted inside the factory cowl.

If you supply the VIN number it will help identify what you have.

Default Story so far

spent the day building the main mount, will get onto the top bar, A frame and bracing later in the week. Built in 12mm plate to have hooks mounted instead of rings to each side of the winch area Its a heap of fab/welding but its solid for sure....

Story so far, front winch mount done and fitted, sorry for the lack of build pics but hey, it is what I do for a living Just bought a second twin bank of cooling fans that I will swap out with the 16" single. Its fine but recon this having 2 fans is a bit safer in case one packs up lol. Drilled the front grill too if anybody noticed

Changed out the fan today, now has the twin set fitted, all custom frame housing and relay mounts. Fans are set at 90 degrees but takes like 10mins to reach this from cold, cools off good so very pleased, looks neater under the hood now Also fitted the chrome hooks so its starting to look like a real truck now

Its a thermo switch unit, slides inside the top hose, kinda standard really. I took the fans from a Honda Accord car then retro fitted them into a custom frame, not sure what pull they have but it is more than enough. The standard 10" fans I looked at doubling up on were like $100 each (new) so opted for these two at $50 for the pair second hand. I was going to tap into the air con thermostat system but opted to go with a stand alone which I feel is better

Will post up the latest bar I just "had to build" as a customer needed one faster that I could build one lol, new one is similar but has shackle blocks fitted too. Also found the 30A fuse was faulty to the new cooling fans, case not holding the fuse correctly!!! fitted a new one and hey, its all good now. The temp never took off high either when not working but must be lucky I didn't get stuck in traffic I guess....
