after a few hours of research, i cant seem to find a direct answer, so im just gonna let it out...
got a 97 disco a month ago, it still has stock suspension. im assuming that after 9 years, it has a little sag in it. i want to put 2" springs on it, but my question is this: ive heard that you get an almost better than stock ride on and off road, but what else am i going to have to replace besides the springs? on most other cars you have to drop the differential, change the driveshaft angles, etc...but if i go with 2" on a D1, can i stop there and get another good 7 years out of the new suspension? thanks for the help.

You will really like what a 2" lift does for your truck, great rides and appearance. You will need to replace your old shocks at the same time.
My choice for the lift is from OME, take a look at this web site for some more specific info, https://www.expeditionexchange.com/ome/ Tend to stay towards the HD springs and shocks to give you the better ride. Mike |

RTE 2" springs lift more than 2" - more than 2" can bring on other issues.
My DI has Big Blue 2" and Procomp shocks- 26K miles and better than stock ride. HD's ride too rough for primarily street use as my DI is not a dedicated trail rig. Much less expensive way to go too.

I hav ehad great luck with my OME's springs and shocks... EE is a great resource for information, but they are on the steep side as they are a boutique shop... Shop around I have seen springs for as little as 60ea on some sites...

I bought the Heavy Duty OME kit came with springs and shocks - Made a big difference great ride - and me and my pops did it all in our driveway - just make sure u have plenty of time to do it - the front was a little more difficult then the rear - and like said above watch your brake lines

I have the OME HD's all around on my 96. Ride is stiffer than stock, but I hate a mushy ride. Very little body lean, corners good enough that I can about run over most cars on the on and off ramps with MTR's on it. Would be really fun to put some sticky street tires on it.

2" springs are usually easy to find used- people get 'em for 6 months and then get the "I gotta have bigger" thoughts...

If you are looking to keep the truck fairly standard, you might want to consider the genuine parts heavy duty springs. My 97 XD has them and the ride is great, especially when coupled to bilstein shocks. I don't do a lot of off roading with the XD so I don't need a lot of flex or clearance, and I actually run smaller-than-stock tires. I have seen the Genuine parts HD springs perform on other disco's and they actually out performed my OME's on my Range Rover. The lift is around 1" over stock and no mod's are needed to run them. When coupled with larger diameter tires the HD's give about the same lift as a 2" spring with stock tires.

Consider looking at Expedition Exchanges web site on the shocks and springs. As they mention, stay with the HD OME shocks, 107 fronts and 108 rears not the lighter shock the 107C and 108C.
As for tires, depending on what you are doing with your truck, 245/75/16's will work real well, 265/75/16 will work with just a slight trim. Good luck, Mike |
