I've got a pretty stock '96 Disco that needs new shocks. I'd like to put taller springs later down the road as well. I'm looking at Pro Comp and Terrafirma +2 shocks that say they are for 2" lift or less so I'm wondering, will these work on a stock height truck for now so I don't have to spend money twice?
2 inch longer travel will mean at least 1 inch longer compressed length. Therefore you have to be careful that they do not bottom out or you will bend/break them.
2 inch spring lifts usually only have springs that are the same extended length as standard springs. Some spring lifts are actually shorter than standard. Therefore, you do not need longer shocks for a spring lift.
