Default 3 inch lift max tire fitment Q?

So this is the plan, Heavy duty big blue springs 3 inch and looking for folks who has expirience in the matter. What would be the largest tires I can get away with without having to go with the flares? Any other input on what needs to be done with a 3 inch lift please let me know.. thanks in advance..

I think a 285/75/16 tire equal to 33 inch tire.

There are many persons running this size with a 3 inch lift

here a picture of a Disco with a 285/75/16 on a 3 inch lift. Look pleasing and the tire fits in there pretty good.

Ran into acouple of guys at an offroad event a couple weeks ago. Both driving D1s, both on RTE 3in lifts. One was running a 255/85-16(I think) BFG mud terrain which is like a 33 and a half. Taller and skinny, good look for the Disco. The other guy was running 35's, but that took way more suspension waork than just shocks and springs! The truck looked real tippy with that tall of a tire too. Make sure you have good Ujoints on your drive shafts, and if you have a flex coupler on your rear d shaft you might want to replace it with a ujointed shaft or carry a spare coupler.

Whatever you do for a lift and tires, don't forget that you will be needing driveshafts for sure as well as hd axles and carriers.lockers cause the factory stuff won't hold up to that much tire and the abuse.

I have a 3" OME lift on my Discovery. I am running 31" tires
but i have a good amount of room to spare. I would say that
32" or 33" would be great.

I like the look of a narrow tire also, just seems to fit the classic LR look, also less stress on the drivetrain.

Narrow tires are great for deep snow/mud and I guess clearance is also a plus. But being half on road and with an extra load of pulling a trailer every weekend for motocross / supermoto racing I'm going with the Phat tires to handle the extra weight better.. hey drewclare25, how wide are your 15 inch American racing wheels?

Hey I have 33's on my disco and a 3 inch lift. I di not have to but i trimmed the rear fender up a bit so it would not rub.

Good luck

The wider the tyre the more power it will pull from the motor and the worse your fuel economy will be. Wider tyres are better for sand, soft mud and snow, where you want to float on top. Narrow tyres are better for slippery clay surfaces, etc where you want to dig in a bit. If you are staying with all-terrain or mud terrain tyres, I would not go wider than 255.

A body lift is always preferable to a spring lift in regard to fitting taller tyres.
