300 TDI Disco Speedo - Land Rovers Only

Speedometer needle jumps around then sits at current speed, sometime dropping to zero. What could be causing this ???

Three things:

The sender unit (behind the handbrake back plate on the LH side of the rear output housing on the T Box...

The wiring from the sender to...

The speedo head itself.....

Thats all there is to it ....

(Unless you count an earth fault or supply fault behind the dash, then thats 5 things, but who's counting, apart from me that is....

Or it could be the gear slipping on the output shaft,used to happen quite a lot on the older ones.
