nevermind i got it again i cracked two sockets though luckily i have impact sockets too. i had to go buy an extender tough. just lots of leverage. this job would have been much easier if i had taken the engine out, but owell. so if anyone has any questions about head disassemble just ask.

Getting the rear head bolts out is always a bugger but taking the engine out just for ease of head work is a bigger task by far. Be very careful when you reassemble that you follow the manual in every detail. Make sure you have a "torque angle gauge" (homemade or bought) so you can progressively tighten the headbolts the correct angle amounts. Cheers.

r0cj0c: do yourself a big favour and get (borrow from library?) a Haynes or factory manual. I think it's fair to say that if you don't do this kind of work regularly you will likely screw something up without the manual's guidance. Certainly in my case, I needed the manual to do this job - just getting the 'valley gasket' properly sealed in place, without damaging it, was tricky.

well i actually have both. i followed the haynes manual for gettin things apart. The workshop manual doesn't work on my mac. errrrhh!!! i wanted to know about the rockers for before i take the heads to the machine shop. i took everything on the heads apart anyway. Im not a proffesional but i know my way around a engine. just some things stick. like bolts on lower mounting bolt of shocks. its a real pain in the ass i can't get it off.

I was thinking I used an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel but that was a rear one and I don't think you can get at the front one that easy.

If you are good with a torch I guess that could work. Just be careful what you melt or set on fire while you are down there.

One of mine was stuck also I was able to get it off by undoing the top of the shock and letting the axle drop as much as possible and then putting big fat vise grips on the lower part of the shock to keep it from turning. Unless you've already stripped the bolt. In which case you could always try and air chisel.
