Default 94 disco no start - newb

hey i just picked up a 94 land rover disco owned by someone up the street. its been sitting for a little bit because it won't start, before it would crank but not fire, now it won't crank (most likely because the battery is pretty weak now). I'll start by looking at the ground i can find, connection on the starter etc. Any other ideas?

Wink Start at the beginning.....

Start with the battery.

Check the battery acid levels in each of the cells and then give it a good charge with one of them inteligent chargers.

Check your fluid levels and get it a try. Get a Haynes manual to get yourself aquainted.

Get all the info you can about the truck so you don't go into it blind.

I would suspect the battery as stated in the above post for it not turning over now. The reason it wasn't starting could be anything though. Once you have power, turn the key to the second position and listen for the fuel pump to run.

funny you mention that, i'm used to the jeeps a little more, but never really had the money time to even lift my old jeep. have a newer one just as a matter of convience, know the product. just use it for ATV hauling duty and bad winter storms.

old jeep

new jeep

i've always had a thing for the discos though, i don't know what it is. can't wait to get it running and have some fun

check the basics:

does the crank spin?

is there spark?

is there fuel?

is there compression?

Go from there.
