Question 95 Disco 4 wheel help

Just bought a 95 Disco, it did not come with an owners manual. I am a little confused about how to get it in 4 wheel drive. It says DIFF, LOCK, L, N, H.
When I put the tran in Neutral the 4 wheel shifter wont go into any position.
Iam i doning something wrong or is it broken ?

Yep,

First off your Disco is "full time" 4 wheel drive, but its not "true" 4X4 until you lock the center differential.

In the unlocked mode the power is transfered via a viscous coupling, when you shift the lever over to the "locked" position it joins the front and rear drive shaft mechanically.

Yours is an auto and i have only driven manual transmission disco's but if i remember correctly you have to be in drive and going less than 5mph to engage it. (a little help from others with an auto?)

Search around the net for directions on how to engage it.

There is a distinct possibility that your shifter is seized due to lack of use. dont know too many socker moms who lock the diff.

Thanks Gunny-

I wouldn't be surprised if the diff lock has never been used. It only has 65k miles and the carfax shows that my disco lived a nice quiet suburban life, until two days ago that is. UWHARRIE here we come !! Thanks for the reply.

Hey Mike,

With the auto it is best you come to a complete stop, shift to N and then engage the CDL. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT drive the truck on Low-Locked on-road.
