Yea, my first post
I'm going to be bring home a 95 Disco soon, my first Rover. My last car was the 94 ZJ witch I liked allot but for a few things... the full time t-case viscus coupler(sp) had worn out, so when driving in a high traction low speed situation (like parking lot) I would turn the wheels and the front tires would bind and chirp. They were "locked" with the rears. Can this happen with the RR full time case? Also real trucks have full frames under them...not uni body. I've been searching for a good write up on doing an intake gasket on one of these, haven't found it yet? Know of one? Thanks Last edited by MI.Disco1 : 02-11-2006 at 12:25 PM. |

MI.Disco1 To answer your question about 'binding & chirping'' front and rear axles, the answer is no. Provided your center differential is not buggered and you can unlock the 'locking' feature in that diff, it will not cause any problems. Let me point out however, the little lever and linkage in Discos that controls low/high range and locking/unlocking the diff can get all gummed up - then you'll have trouble. Take the time to check that it works smoothly on any truck you are considering. If you really keep everything clean and greased, it works very well. Permit me to write my standard warning to anyone wanting a older Disco: these trucks are not Toyotas, they need love and attention. In my opinion, Discos are wonderful, like nothing else on the road, but they are British UVs not appliance SUVs. Do you have someone who knows Discos to come with you when viewing a potential purchase?

Thanks for the info guys...
Its kind of a long story but I'm getting this truck for around $1500. Its a 95 auto w/103k on it. The truck had been hit in the front pass side, has used fender, grille, bumper on it now. Also needs the intake gasket. Its not going to be driven until I replace the gasket and go over things, witch I plan to take my time on. My wife drives a Toyota, perfect for her. It dose everything you ask it too...how boring I'm not even sure what I'll end up with, might be more of an off road toy than DD. I'm too cheap to pay for gas if it were my DD. Saying that I will be the one doing the work on it. |
