I just bought a 1995 Discovery.. I noticed the day I bought it, right after I picked it up I filled it up at the Shell station and noticed coolant dripping out from under the truck (before I parked the truck, the A/C was running). I didn't have a long drive ahead of me, so I topped it off and drove home, but WITHOUT the A/C on and noticed that it had completely stopped leaking.
Fast forward to today, the same thing happened again. Drove it with the A/C on, parked it, and it leaked. Then drove it with the A/C off and it didn't leak. What on earth would make it leak water/coolant only when the A/C has been running? This couldn't possibly be the condensation, because its green like coolant. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

No, it was running the same temp as normal. And I doubt it was the green dye in the freon, because I'd think all the freon would have run out but I'm sure it hasn't because the A/C is still cold.
When leaking, the water drips from a hose on the left side of the motor (when looking at it directly) under the A/C compressor and whatever else is under there. |

running the AC will tax your cooling system a little more than without, possibly pressuring a hose fitting to leak. If you've identified the the hose where it is leaking, try replacing it along with the clamp.

When are you going to do what you need to do, that being have a pressure test done on the coolant system.
All this driving around and posting and you could be toasting your engine. Get it over to a shop before you drop a sleeve. Mike |
