Default 97 D1 A/C blowing 30 amp fuse under hood

My 97 blew a 30 amp fuse to the compressor (the fuse under the hood) and when I replace it, it just blows again. A mechanic told me he thought it was a diode, but I don't see one for the compressor on my Rave CD. Any suggestions.

Also, the tranny shifts hard at times and I remember a post from a year ago or so about what it might be (throttle position sensor? or something) other than a tranny problem. A mechanic seemed to think everything in the drive line was tight, so it isn't a U joint. Any thoughts?

Hi Mike!!

pull the compressor clutch relay and see if the fuse pops. if not then the condensor fan relay.

if it still does it then you have a short from the fuse box to the relay.

if either one is the problem then try switching with a known good one nearby to see if the relay is the issue.

try that and get back to me. if either one isnt the problem then you need to look at whats beyond the problem relay and see what could be causing it.
