Default '97 D1 front driveshaft vibration/pinion angle

Hello all,

I am new to LR and recently purchased a '97 Discovery I. The PO installed a 2" lift kit from Ironman suspension, but otherwise the truck is bone stock. I'm trying to sort out a driveline vibration that occurs on acceleration in the 20-40mph range. By removing the driveshafts in turn I have isolated the problem to the front d/s. The shaft itself is fine, but the pinion angles seem to be way out from what they should be. The pinion is angled way up.

I drew up the measurements. That file plus a bunch of other possibly useful photos are here:

From what I've read, with only a 2" lift the pinion shouldn't have come up this much. What are some possible causes for the high angle? It seems like the solution is a set of pinion-correcting radius arms to bring the diff down 6 degrees and then a new double-cardan driveshaft. What do the experts think of this diagnosis?

Thanks in advance - any advice appreciated.

Dan,
I have seen this before with that lift. The drivline angle is to great for the ujoints to work correctly. The best way is to fit a double cardon front shaft, either from a DII or from Great Basin Rovers , Tom Woods Driveline. I suspect it is at the worst right around the 30 to 35 mph range.

Is a DII driveshaft a direct swap (besides length difference if there is a bit of lift?

Thanks,
spencer
