Default 97 Disco with 218000 miles?

I've seen a 97 Disco with 218000 miles. Body looks nice and shiny, no apparent rust, no dents. Front seats are very worn (seat covers would probably work).
It's a repo, supposedly driven by a woman, never offroaded (yea right!). They have 1 bid so far of $2500.00, Haven't driven it yet- what problem areas should I look for?
If I get it I'd use it for off-road mainly. Does this model have axle locks?
Thanks for any advice.

My personal opinion is I would not pay more then $2,500 for a disco with 218,000 miles. Unless it has a new or updated engine and drive train.

My personal opinion is that I would not pay more than $100 for a 97 D1 w/ 218k miles unless there is a ton of records of service being done.. including bushings, seals, oil changes every 2500 miles, everything else changed/etc.. If its not extremely well taken care of, you'll be in the hole for a ton of money with fixing a ton of small things.. that 2500 truck could soon turn into a $10k one.

i agree unless it has maintenance records and has had ATLEAST the heads re-done, I wouldn't buy it unless u want a project truck and have a lot of money to blow on prob. a new engine and drivetrain. i have a 97 d1 with 130000 and i just rebuilt the heads and did a lot of engine work to it. i didn't even take out the engine and rebuild the bottom end or work on the tranny. thats a risky buy.

Run as fast as you can from this. If it's a repo, then I'd be willing to bet there has been no service or maintenance on this vehicle. On the other hand, I would buy it for $1500.

Default strong suggestion

Buy this cream puff at once! Then put my number on speed dial (i sell parts) and i promise to name the new boat you by me the "Folivier"
Seriously, don't touch this thing. You can bet if they didn't have money for payments they haven't done anything to maintain it for 6-12 months. Thats a gob of miles, things will start ramdomly flying off this soon.
