Help! My 97 Discovery I went into "super lockdown" when I was replacing battery terminals. I have NEVER had an RKE fob to arm/disarm security system (neither did prior owner). The driver's door lock cylinder has been replaced.
The vehicle is now at the local Land Rover dealer; they required me to buy a new RKE fob, but they cannot program fob or get vehicle out of "super lockdown"...they claim their computers will not work on older Discoverys and want me to have vehicle towed to another dealer over 70 miles away. When battery is re-connected, red LED in center of instrument panel glows solid, then blinks/horn sounds when any attempt is made to open doors, turn key in ignition, etc. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, fred |

OK, no one responded to my problem, but here's what happened...
Dealer I could not repair the Discovery, but sold me the RKE fob they said was necessary. Thanks to AAA, the Discovery was then towed to the Land Rover dealer in Columbia, SC, where one of their good guys got the fob programmed and the vehicle unlocked in a matter of minutes. I'm usually a non-dealer type for repairs or maintenance, but the service, communication and attention that I rec'd at Land Rover Columbia was top drawer. Need help when in the area?...give Buddy a call! Cheers! |

I never had the OEM alarm remote so after dealing with a similar headache when they were redoing my door locks, I replaced the alarm with a clifford. I love it. It's got a 1/3 of a mile range and I can tell exactly what's going on with the car. Weather it a soccer ball or a broken window or anything else, I can tell with the little screen on the alarm remote.
