Hello
Just a question. Does any one know of any history of the double uni joint self-destructing on the front drive shaft. 120000km. Causing major out of balance while driving slow, only slight when up to 100km/h. After dealer replaced shaft with much expense to me. The joint had completely worn out and nearly failed. This uni has no grease nipples and is directly under the A/C drain pipe. Good design.http://landroversonly.com/forums/new...newthread&f=9# |

This is extremely common, your ar lucky it lasted as long as it did. they were shipped from the factory as unserviciable u-joints and between the strees and the heat from both convertors they get fried, mine failed at 44,000 miles.
You might also look at adding grease fittings to both drive shafts slip joints, they are drilled for them but never installed. Mike J. |
